Farro Sausage Apple Skillet
A bold, satisfying blend of chewy whole grain Farro, savory sausage, onions and sweet apple. I know to some, sweet meat is a non-negotiable, but this isn’t overly sweet . No added sugar – just apples. You can use a couple apples that are left over and drying out in your fridge, as long as they aren’t bad and it would still taste good. We didn’t even notice.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
Directions
-
Bring water or broth to a boil – add farro. Cook until farro is tender, about 10 minutes. Drain.
-
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir sausage until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes.
-
Stir in apples, onion, and garlic until apples are tender, 5 to 6 minutes. Add drained farro. Season with red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Continue to cook and stir until warmed through, 1 to 2 minutes more.
