Just 5 ingredients. We like to use it for sandwiches or just dipping it into a bowl of soup.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon yeast
  • 2 teaspoons 100% pure maple syrup
  • 2 cups whole-wheat flour, I used Bob’s Red Mill 100% Whole Wheat
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions

1. In a medium bowl mix together water, yeast, and maple syrup. Let sit 10-15 minutes or until it becomes frothy.

2. Add flour and salt. I mix until dough forms a ball and is no longer sticky. You may need to add a little flour at time.

3. Cover and let sit in warm place for 1 hour or until its double its size.

4. Punch down and shape into baguettes. Place on parchment paper lined sheet. Cover and let sit 45 mins.

5. Fill cast iron skillet or oven safe dish with water and place on bottom rack of the oven.

6. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Make slits on top for venting. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
